Semi-Auto Pistol I - Range
Description
This 8-hour course is designed to provide students an opportunity to build on their classroom skills in a range setting and demonstrate their basic proficiency and safe handling of a semi-auto pistol. The course teaches and evaluates skills through attendance and participation during range drills.
Range safety rules and an explanation of commands will be provided before any live fire begins. Students will demonstrate safe weapons handling on a live range and also be able to perform basic handgun use and manipulation. Instructors will be available to assist with recoil management, trigger press, stance and other skills during dry fire and live fire.
The focus of this course is for students to be able to hold the pistol in a safe and comfortable manner, fire accurately at a stationary target, and reload or function the pistol as needed.
Drills are designed to emphasize these foundational skills. Drills are not meant to put students under intense physical duress or in a position that would be dangerous for a new shooter.
During the final hour of the range day, students may elect to participate in challenges or friendly competitions to demonstrate the skills they have acquired during the course. No challenges will consist of skills beyond what is taught in the course.
Students are required to complete Semi-Auto Pistol I – Classroom prior to attending this course.
